Unique niche business ideas for funeral providers

It’s a well known fact that funeral business is among the most profitable businesses. Reason is obvious – people who just lost their beloved one are too shocked and too depressed to analyze and negotiate prices. So, if you are about to found your own company, consider the idea of small funeral business. The major problem you may face is severe competition on this market, so think about an unusual niche business idea that will help you stand out. I already have 2 interesting business ideas in my collection: Ashes to Portraits and Sentimental Connections and here are another 3 potentially successful ideas for funeral business:

1. Ashes to Pencils

Interaction Research Studio offers to turn ashes into pencils. A box of 240 pencils can be produced from remains of one person. Each pencil is foil stamped with the name of the person. Only one pencil can be removed at a time, it is then sharpened back into the box causing the sharpenings to occupy the space of the used pencils. Over time the pencil box fills with sharpenings – a new ash, transforming it into an urn. The window acts as a timeline, showing you the amount of pencils left as time goes by.

2. Ashes to Fireworks

Heavens Above Fireworks offer special fireworks displays which include a number of unique fireworks designed or modified to incorporate cremation ashes, allowing for a happier farewell. Clients can choose from spectacular memorial events, rockets for self firing and mini displays.

3. Ashes to Reefs

Eternal Reefs company offers a way to have a memorial and help out the environment at the same time, by creating a memorial reef that contains the ashes of the deceased. The memorial reefs are known as “reef balls.” They are constructed by mixing cremated remains with liquid concrete, which is put into mold in order to create the reef ball. The reef ball is placed alongside other reef balls to create an artificial reef that provides a habitat for sea life. Within a few weeks, marine life will begin to take hold in the artificial reef, which will look like a natural reef within a few months. It creates a living legacy that is a unique way to memorialize someone who has passed.
