So, you have finally chosen interesting idea for your future business. Now lets pass to the next level and discuss the business processes specific to the chosen business niche. Your task for now is to collect as much information about this market as possible and to analyze it.
For example, you are a journalist and would like to sell your creative services. What is necessary to succeed?
1. list of services that you are able to offer
2. place where people can find out about your services
3. flow of clients to the place mentioned above
4. other basics needed for any business, like a working place, computer with Internet etc.
These are the processes that need a detailed analysis.
Our hypothetical journalist decided to write political reviews. Business processes in this case include: creation of web-site to advertise his services, meetings with representatives of local media to offer cooperation. All these activities require only time and efforts and do not require investments.
Our hypothetical fisherman decided to create an e-shop selling fishing accessories. What the business processes for this case? He has to find and contact suppliers, discuss rates, discounts, terms and conditions etc. You don’t have to buy goods, there are always possibilities to take goods on consignment. The next step is to think about the design and functionality of an e-shop. And last, but not least – think about ways to attract visitors to the site.
So, on this level you should consider the following:
1. Draw a scheme of your future business: where do you take the goods; what are the goods and services; pricing strategy; ways to attract clients etc.
2. What is your target audience? Who is your client? How can you reach him?
You need to carefully think over all these questions and pass to the next step only when there’s a clear bright image of your future business in your head.
