Green business idea – reknit service

Seems that eco-friendly and green business are becoming the leading trends for XXI century. More and more companies add a green touch to their business and benefit from being socially responsible. I’ve already wrote about interesting business ideas based on recycling and here’s one idea how to earn living on upcycling.
Graphic designer Haik Avanian from Boston recently launched a new project that turns old sweaters into handsome new objects—with the help of Avanian’s mom. Reknit’s site users vote tp decide what what Avanian’s mom should reknit this month. In January she was making scarves. Anyone could send her an old sweater, she then unraveled it and transformed (or reknited) into a new, one-of-a-kind scarf for a mere sum of $30. In February she turns old sweaters into cut-off gloves and in March it will be socks, hats, sweatbands or iPod cases.
Starting a business based on upcycling you can kill two birds with one stone: get a free of charge raw materials and ready-t-buy customers. You are happy because your business is successful and customers are glad to participate in an eco-friendly project and to make a contribution to the protection of the environment.
