British researchers announced a lit of potentially successful business ideas for next ten years and one of the most promising ideas was business on providing goods and services for seniors. That’s not surprising as due the improvement of social security and medicine from one side and the fertility decline from the other side causes the increase of the average age of western population. There’s a huge market out there waiting to be conquered!
Some companies have already understand the potential of this market and Austrian supermarket chain Adeg is among them. Back in 2003 they opened their first supermarket named Adeg Aktiv Markt 50+, for clients starting from 50 years of age. Shop is specially designed for such clients: soft lighting, floors with anti-slide coating, wide aisles, easy parking is understandable, understated shelving, seating areas inside the store, signs with large lettering etc. The range of goods also takes into account special needs of elder people.
