Latest researches prove that one of the leading business trend for 2010 is social responsible business combined with charity. Such strategy can be used on any market and here’s one good example how it works in hospitality business.
Burnham Hotel in downtown Chicago launched a Casual Blue Campaign. The idea is simple: every visitor who donates a pair of jeans gets 10 USD discount for accommodation (hotel accepts max 2 pairs). I bet everyone has at least 1 pair of jeans which they will never wear again. Why not to give them to someone who will, especially if you get a discounted accommodation at a luxurious hotel in return!
Thus unusual marketing trick helps to draw additional attention to the hotel and attracts customers who wish to participate in such great charity event. People are usually lazy, yet willing to do something good and they will surely be grateful to a company that lets them participate in charity without any efforts!
