lifehacking

I guess I’ve already mentioned once or twice that some of the modern trends (I don’t mean fashion, I mean any part of life) come to Eastern European countries much later then they become popular in USA or Western Europe. Another proof is my latest discovery which turned out to be a popular worldwide trend – life hacking. It’s a shame, but I’ve never heard of such subculture before I saw a report on this theme on TV this weekend.

Is there anyone else who doesn’t know anything about life hacking yet? Well, I believe not, but still, a few words about this term. Originally, it was a term used by programmers to help them cut through an information overload when writing new computer scripts. But now, the term is being used more often for great things that are making our day to day lives easier, helping us to become more productive. In other words life hacking is now a term that refers to almost anything that solves an everyday problem in a clever or non-obvious way.

You might be surprised, but life hacking actually appeared in my country and in all ex-USSR countries long before it became popular in USA in 2006. In USSR times economy of our region was in deep depression: empty shelves in shops, no basic goods on sale etc. This motivated people to show their creativity and they started to invent things instead of buying them. For example women used sweet water (250 ml of water + 1 tea spoon of sugar) as a hairspray to fix the hairdo. Others used onion to polish the furniture (it made old wooden cupboards and night tables shiny and new). Women even knew how to make a sieve out of thin nylon tights!

You wonder why I write about life hacking on this blog? From my point of view life hacking is a great unusual business idea that can be used in many ways! First option: you can open a blog or a web-site devoted to this theme. Taking into account an enormous popularity of life hacking I’m sure you’ll have good traffic and will be able to earn on advertising, selling links etc. The other way of using this business idea is to launch a website which would sell useful advises. Something like daytipper.com. You can offer your visitors a subscription to daily life hacking ideas for a small fee. These are only 2 simplest ways that came up on my mind when I started to investigate this question. Sure there are many more ways to earn on life hacking which would assure you a stable monthly income. Just use your imagination!
