I’m writing this blog for quiet a while already, and since the first post I added a lot of new categories, that seems interesting for me and, hopefully, for my readers as well! But today I realized that there is one very important category missing – „Tips for entrepreneurs”. As I’m an owner of a small business myself, I know all the difficulties of being entrepreneur from inside and will try to share my experience and give you some useful hints on how to avoid major problems, what things need your special attention etc.
And the first topic in this category will be - the quality of your advertising materials and web-page in aspect of translations. If you live in a country with various languages spoken (like myself) or if you have international partners and clients, you will sooner or later face a need to translate your advertising materials, texts on your web-page or your business offers to one or more foreign languages. And if you don’t want to spoil the reputation of your company, these translation should be made by professionals, who can guarantee the quality. There are a lot of translation offices in every country, but you better be careful as not all of them offer high level services. Of course I’m not able to post a list of reliable companies all other the world, but I have many readers from India and for them I can surely recommend IAFL Translation & Interpretation Services – a company that works on this market since 1989 which really makes me feel a lot of respect.
The company provides translations for use in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Iran, Myanmar(Burma), Bhutan and other countries in this region. And the list of languages they offer is really big and includes not only such popular languages like English, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, Farsi(Persian), Dari, Pushto(Pashto/Pushtu), Punjabi, Bengali, Gujarati(Gujurati/Gujerati), Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Sinhala(Sinhalese/Singhalese), Nepali, Tibetan, Myanmarese(Burmese), but also Bodo(Boro), Bhutanese, Sanskrit, Assamese, Kashmiri(Koshur), Konkani, Oriya, Dogri, Manipuri(Meitei), Sindhi. And what I liked the best about the offers of IAFL Translation & Interpretation Services is that they promise to answer 95% of e-mail within 1 hour. Impressive! Want to check?
If you are still not convinced in the necessity of good translation, just spend few minutes on this page and I’m sure you will change your mind. Actually, when I only started my business (travel agency), I wasn’t so sure about this neither. And I trusted all the translation from Latvian to English to a student, who offered the best price. Some few weeks after I launched the web-page I received an e-mail from an American, who wrote that the offer on my web-page are great, but the company that has such a bad English version of the web-page doesn’t look trustworthy for him… So, I had to pay to a proof-reader who nearly re-wrote all the texts.. Just another proof of the well-known Russian saying “The greedy pays twice”…
