St. Valentine’s day is coming and florists’ shops are attacked by hundreds thousands of men searching for special posies for their loved ones. A lot Americans think that traditional flowers are boring and that makes florists invent something new to satisfy such clients.
The best sellers of past few years are flowers with printing on the petals. These printings are made by special printer and can have any design: declaration of love, funny pictures, romantic hearts and angels for St. Valentine’s days etc. These flowers look great, but making such prints is technical complicated (you need specially designed laser printers) and therefore expensive.
Russian florists also meet the demand for some special posies and one of them decided to use this American idea, but make it simpler and cheaper in order to make their price more reasonable. First he decided to use a cheaper Chinese ink printer, but it’s quality was very low as well as productivity: 2-3 flowers in 15 minutes. Besides, this printer was making too many defects on thin and fragile petals.
After vain attempts he decided to change the approach: if it’s not possible to print the pictures on the petals, then you can simply stick them! He took transparent self-gumming oilskin and started to print pictures and letters on it, some 120-240 pictures on each A4 sheet. Any logo, picture or even photo can easily be printed on such material with any simple printer. Then you only need to cut out the picture and stick it on the petal. A self-cost of such picture is few pennies, but any cheap flower can be sold for a double or even triple price if it’s decorated with a portrait of your wife and something sweet like „I love you, honey”!
This entrepreneur says that the total cost of this business was 200 $: few shits of the oilskin for a start (he doesn’t reveal which type of oilskin he uses, but I’m sure it can be found experimentally) and printer. Can you imagine a better low budget business idea with such a great potential?
